ASHES TO BASHES & USAIN BOLT'S TENDULKAR CONNECTION

Am back, finally, after a long layoff... It's been a busy season. So much cricket being played all over the globe. Ashes has been nice. So far. And, so has been Bangladesh's great run of luck which was finally halted by Zimbabwe a few days ago (maybe this Zimbabwean team is better than the one from West Indies!). Pakistan's bashing to the Lankans meanwhile wasn't much of a surprise. Or was it? Well, they were supposed to be on a high after winning the Twenty20 World Championship. Weren't they? But then, only a fool would put his money on a team as unpredictable as Pakistan (those bookies, who were spotted in their hotel in Sri Lanka, would agree!). And, what about the Indians? Well, don't be fooled into believing that they are enjoying a 10-hour sleep (plus a two-hour siesta) and making most of their two-month break from international cricket. While skipper MS Dhoni is walking ramp and shooting advertisements, his other so called 'senior' mates are doing anything except nursing their injured fingers, thumbs, knees, ankle and bums. Sachin Tendulkar has been an exception (no way, read on). After getting injured during the IPL, he has been mostly vacationing abroad with the family. And when he is in town (after months of resting in a hammock) the master blaster chooses an ad shoot over a fitness test being conducted by the Indian cricket board for its players on the same day (maybe it was with Usain Bolt so coach Gary Kirsten can sit back and relax!)
