GAMBHIR, HAYDEN JUMP; DRAVID, SEHWAG & HUSSEY SULK POST KUMBLE'S FAREWELL PARTY

He may be facing an uphill task to escape a one-Test ban imposed by the ICC, but Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has at least something to cheer about after the 3rd Test vs Australia which ended in New Delhi on Sunday. Gambhir, who has scored 463 runs in the series so far, has jumped 11 places (from 37th to career-best18th position) in the latest Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen.
However, his senior teammate Rahul Dravid has enough reasons to ponder over his sliding Test career. 'The Wall' has crumbled for the first time in 11 years to drop out of the top-20 list. The former India captain has dropped eight places to 26th and has now lost 10 places since the start of the series in which he has scored 117 runs.
Opener Virender Sehwag has dropped three places to 13th, Sachin Tendulkar has retained his 19th position and Saurav Ganguly, who will retire after the final Test vs the Aussies in Nagpur later this week, has slipped one place to 24th spot.
VVS Laxman, who scored 200 not out and 59 not out in the Delhi Test, has jumped five places to 11th.
Meanwhile, Australia's Matthew Hayden has returned to the top 10 after knocks of 83 and 16 not out in the 3rd Test vs India at the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium.
However, Mike Hussey, who took over the number-one tag from the West Indies’ Shivnarine Chanderpaul after the first Test in Bangalore, has slipped one more place to fourth while Michael Clarke has also dropped one position to 14th.
India captain Anil Kumble ends his illustrious 132-Test career in 19th position, his lowest ranking since January 1993.
