"With more and more cricket being played it has become clear that it is not possible for me to do justice to two jobs, the chairmanship of the ICC Cricket Committee and my media commitments. As an example of that, I had to leave my professional commitments as a commentator on the Indian Premier League matches in order to come and chair this year’s meeting in Dubai," said Gavaskar in a statement released by the ICC.
Gavaskar had irked the ICC top brass with some hard-hitting columns during India's tour of Australia earlier this year. It wasn't fair on the part of Chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee to air his views in the media openly, complained many top ICC officials.
However, more greener pastures await Sunny, who along with his former opening partner Ravi Shastri, had quit the ESPN/Star Sports panel to sign a contract with the Indian Premier League.
